Signs of Ins Being Disabled#
When I opened Ins in the afternoon, it prompted me that there was a problem with my account and I needed to verify my phone number. Without much thought, I filled it in as shown in the following figure.
When I open Ins, it will pop up the page above and won't let me enter the app.
So, in the evening, I couldn't wait and logged out of my account, wanting to log in again and give it a try. However, no matter how I tried, I couldn't log in:
- Log in with Facebook account: My Ins account is linked to Facebook, and I used to log in like this before. But now I can't log in.
- Log in with username and password: I have a habit of keeping my username and password in the notes, so it's impossible for me to get them wrong. But it keeps saying that my password is incorrect when I try to log in.
To my surprise, I directly searched my username on the webpage and found that the user could not be found.

How to Recover Your Account?#
Recovering is very simple, and if it's in the afternoon (Beijing time), you can recover it quickly.

Fill out the form
Note:
- The email doesn't have to be the one previously associated with the account. They will help you rebind it to the newly filled one.
- Do not use a domestic email! It's very likely that you won't receive the email.
- If you forget the account name, there's no solution.
- The name doesn't have to be your real name.
- It's recommended to take a screenshot of the information you filled out, which will be needed later.
- Just fill in China for the country.
After filling it out, you will soon receive the following email:
Write down the following on paper:
- The numeric code
- Full name (the same as the name filled out on the webpage)
- Username
It's better to write with a thick pen and make it bigger, then take a selfie with it.
Some phone cameras may produce a mirrored image... Just flip it yourself.
Reply directly to that email, attaching the photo.
You can say a few words. I used English to politely ask them to restore my account as soon as possible.
You won't have to wait long before receiving the email confirming the restoration of your account!
Afterword#
At first, I maliciously speculated that Ins disabled my account because I filled in a mainland Chinese phone number. The fact proved that they treat all users equally, and the email was also in Chinese. The restoration was quick and thoughtful.
Losing an account is very distressing. The people you follow and the posts are memories lost.
